Think Out of the Box
Planning events that have all the details you want to incorporate can be overwhelming and extremely difficult on the budget. When planning your event its highly beneficial to think out of the box. Think about multi-purpose items.
When you throw a party or host an event that is a gift giving or prize giving event, once you factor in your gift to the party beneficiary or the prizes for the attendees, the cost of the event can dramatically escalate. This is where it works best to think out of the box! Think about your decor, can you double up and use the decor as your gift or prizes? What about the games you play, could the items used for the games be part of the prize or gifts?
When my daughter was pregnant and I hosted a baby shower for her, we decorated the tables with diaper cakes. The theme of the shower was story books, and all the food served corresponded to children’s book. Besides hosting the shower itself, her gift from her father and me came from all the decor.
When my daughter in-law was pregnant with a little girl, the table decor was the receiving blankets she had registered for, rolled up and held together by the headbands she registered for. We stuck boho grasses in the middle to make it look like the blankets were vases.
What is a good shower or party without a game or two? For a wedding shower, we used household items for one of the games, and those items became a mixture of both prizes for the game winners and items the engaged couple was able to take and use to help stock their home.
At a women’s conference, all the decor and center pieces, became items that attendees could win.
